Fort Myers Christian School (FMCS) endeavors for each child to be successful in his educational experiences. It is important to assess students' skill and ability levels so that their needs can best be met. Periodically in the registration process, Entrance/Placement Testing times will be set so that all new incoming students for grades K-8 can be tested. The tests will be administered by the faculty in their classrooms. For grades 1-8 there will be four subtests administered, two in the reading/language areas and two in the mathematics area. The tests are part of nationally standardized tests. On the testing day, each student should come having had a good night's sleep, a good breakfast and two #2 pencils. The testing should take approximately two hours. Parents should not put a lot of pressure on students to perform, but to just do their best. The tests will be scored and the results shared with parents, along with any insights or suggestions to make the up-coming school year a successful one for the student. These are not meant to be used as stringent criteria for admission, but are intended for the adequate assessment of the level of ability of each student, so that FMCS can best meet their academic needs.
A student may be excused from taking these tests if a parent submits a copy of Stanford Achievement Test Results and a copy of the previous year's report card. The copy of these scores must be submitted before the testing day in order to be excused. The lack of test scores, or scores other than the Stanford (S.A.T.) scores will necessitate that the student take the test. The test dates are coordinated through the Academic office. A fee will be applied for testing appointments not attended.
