Our Twelfth Year 1990-1991

One of the most popular teachers ever, Mrs. Sue Smith, science teacher, joined the staff in 1990. Mrs. Smith is married and has three children, all of whom graduated from Fort Myers Christian School.

Mrs. Gayle Shell took over the fifth grade from Mrs. Laurie Knoll who went on maternity leave at the beginning of the second semester. Mrs. Shell is married and has two sons that graduated from FMCS, and currently teaches first grade.

Pastor David Winchell transformed the Children's chapel into a work of art when he joined the church as the Children's Pastor.

The first eighth grade class to go on a missions trip to Juarez, Mexico, was the graduating class of 1991. The trip was thought of as a replacement for the "senior trip" that the eighth grade students had gone on in years before, and a way to give students a more godly vision of the world. The annual Mexico trip has continued every year since then, and has become an integral part of the eight grade year. The missions trip is woven into their class subjects, especially Bible and Spanish classes. Students learn simple Bible verses in Spanish, and also learn how to do human videos, dramas, skits, and clowning routines, all to reach the people of Juarez.
